This dress was a custom order I received from my last market stall for a cute 7 year old needing a vintage style dress for a wedding. The colours had to match her mothers dress (who was the maid of honour) which had black flocking all over it, so we went with black velvet accents. I drafted this dress using the Skip To My Lou dress as the inspiration but changed the sleeves to a more smaller cap shape. I found this great tute about drafting cap sleeves and I'll definitely be incorporating more of these sweet little caps into other garments.
I finally found a way that I was super happy with to invisibly finish open sleeve holes, of which the cap sleeves have, by checking out this blog post by Seamstress Erin. I love how all the work is hidden within the bias tape and then slipstitched to the lining so nothing shows on the outside.
I do apologise for the very dodgy phone pics but it's all I had;)
